Dop Wax Heater (for candle)

Dopping is the unusual term given to the procedure involved in temporarily fixing a stone onto a handle to ease manipulation.
Traditionally this involved the use of molten wax but more recently epoxy or acrylic adhesives have been used-the latter being soluble in acetone.
For wax dopping, stones should be warmed before applying the wax and a prior coating of Shellac painted on the stone can improve the adhesion.

Dop Heater
This simple steel dish (8cm dia x 3.5cms) is supported in a folded steel frame under which a night-light (not supplied) candle can be placed. This unit should be used on a heat resisting surface such as the sheet ref 93-030 on page 162. Wax is not included.

Devcon Epoxy ADHESIVE

Ref: Devcon

We have found that the ‘Devcon’ Epoxy performs well for jewellery assembly and is less likely to discolour (over a period of time) than the more commonly distributed 'Araldite'.
Adhesive can be hazardous to young children so they should use it only with supervision.
Super-glues such as Cyanoacrylate do not work very well unless the surfaces to be joined are in very close contact and this is often not the case with stones and jewellery mountings.
Epoxy Adhesive by 'Devcon' is a high strength, all purpose adhesive for use on metal, wood, ceramic, glass, concrete, china and much more!
Offers a rapid 5-minute setting time and dries clear.
Please note that as with most epoxy adhesives this contains a skin and severe eye irritant (See caution on the pack). KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN The pack illustrated is the Syringe

EXPANDING DRUM 6 x 1.5inch

Ref: 17-045

Heavy rubber expanding drums with angled slots allowing the drum to expand when rotated thereby locking the chosen belt in place.
Belts are quickly changed by merely stopping the machine, sliding off the old belt and sliding on the new one.
In use the resilient surface of the drum flexes to the gemstone contour and quickly removes grinding flats and yet, owing to the convex surface of the drum, the cutting pressure is concentrated so that scratches are quickly removed.
Each drum is supplied with telescoping bushings to fit shafts ½" , 5/8", ¾" or 1" diameter.
