Because the Universal is a horizontal lap machine you can grind flats, make free form cabochons, rework quartz crystals, do intarsia and detailed inlay work. Homberg & Brusius Combination Unit type SLB4

A German manufactured machine (Type SLB4-15/20) suitable for domestic or commercial use. The compact design accommodates six or eight inch diameter accessories with 22mm arbor size to match the sturdy shaft diameter.

The machine is supplied mounted, motorised (230v), guarded and fitted with an easy access waterproof ‘ON/OFF’switch (with emergency stop button) ready for use. Speed variation is achieved by stepped pulleys with a simple thumb-screw drive-belt tensioning device accessible from the top of the machine.

The machine body and belt guard are fabricated from heavy guage stainless sheet steel. Bolted, with domed head carriage bolts, to a 2cms thick, white faced, chipboard base measuring 60cms wide (about 2 feet) by 57cms deep.

A generous capacity (1.9litre) polythene coolant (water) pot, with a clip-on lid, is held on the machine by means of stainless steel sprung trays allowing universal postioning (on either end of the machine)of the flexible water hose.
